Hook slam sad Fishguard as cricket season starts up
Jamie Phelps - big innings and two wickets in Hook cause.
Hook (213 for 7) beat Fishguard (54 all out).
Hook made a terrific start to the new season as they slammed a disappointing Fishguard by 159 runs with Jamie Phelps starting his campaign with a bang.
Phelps belted 84 runs (11 fours and a six) receivinggood support from Ben Field (44, including five fours and a six) and Andrew Thomas (23 not out) as Jonathan Strawbridge led the Fishguard attack with 3 for 24 and there was support from Paul Davies (2 for 56) and Matthew Morgan (1 for 15).
Strawbridge also topped the Fishguard batting with 14 and Ben Watson contributed 12 runs but with Tom Blaxland claiming 4 for 8 in five overs, Andrew Thomas also chipped in his 4 for 10 and Phelps applied the coup de grace with a 2 for 12 analysis.

Seasiders stroll to victory.
Saundersfoot (122 for 2) beat
Pembroke (121 all out).
Saundersfoot strolled to a win over Pembroke as they restricted the former first division side to 121 all out and reached their target in 26 overs for the loss of only two wickets.
Former Pembroke pace man Gwyn Griffiths, now playing as a batsman, led the batting with 39 alongside useful cameos by Lee Butler (23) and Simon Smith-Wrench (16) but always found it hard going against the effervescent Kevin Sykes (4 for 19), Steve Cole (2 for 8), Simon Stanford (1 for 37), David Dunfee (2 for 23) and Danny Caine (1 for 11).
Danny Caine and Simon Stanford also batted well as they put on 78 for the first Saundersfoot wicket, with Caine having a six and three fours in his 35 and Stanford stroking five boundaries en route to 44. Paul Mansbridge (16 not out) and James Caine (14 not out) eased Saundersfoot home with loads of overs in hand to show their early intent in seeking a good run.

Battle of the seconds.
Carew 2nds (142 for 5) beat Haverfordwest 2nds (89 all out).
Carew were worthy winners in the battle between the only two second teams in the section, scoring 142 for 5 as Gerald Hicks topped the batting list and another old war-horse in Aled Davies reduced the town Seconds' innings to tatters with a 7 for 11 haul.
Hicks scored 44 in a productive stand of 70 with teenager Tom Davies, who scored 31 to match his dad Aled in performing well. Matthew Phillips lived up to his nickname of The Hammer as he blitzed 42 runs as the pick of the Haverfordwest bowlers were Dean Flood (2 for 29) and Simon Tremaine (2 for 47).
Andrew Phillips batted well for Haverfordwest in accumulating 28 runs but no-one else could stay long as Aled Davies grabbed his seven-wicket haul and there was also success for Neil Gregory (1 for 39), Nick Cope (1 for 8) and Ceri Brace (1 for 19) as Carew were victorious by 53 runs.

Llanrhian gang jolted.
Johnston (170 all out) beat Llanrhian (74 all out).
Johnston marked their return to division two with a cracking win over Llanrhian at Glebelands where they batted well, bowled with accuracy and were eager in the field to stroll home by 96 runs.
John Summons (37), Ross Dewstowe 35) and Gary James (24) were the principal contributors to the Johnston total as Llanrhian had useful bowling by Mark Bennett (2 for 24), Chris Couzens (1 for 28), David Hamilton (3 for 29), Tony Kitchell (2 for 35), Gareth Cadfael Davies (1 for 10) and Dai Biggles Charles (1 for 12).
But the Llanrhian batting fell apart as key batsmen Gareth Davies and Couzens departed cheaply and Andrew Jenkins was removed first ball by Andrew Page. These three are major regular contributors to the Llanrhian cause and no-one got going as Page finished up with 4 for 18, fully supported by Chris Fitzpatrick (2 for 9), Steve Mills Jnr (2 for 15) and Gary James (1 for 18) to give Johnston maximum points from their first match. The match between Llechryd and Herbrandston was cancelled because the Llechryd wicket was too wet to play on.
