THE number of school admissions fraud in Warrington has doubled in the academic year 2013/2014 from the previous year.
Some parents were found to have entered false information on their child’s application form in a bid to secure their child access to the best primary and secondary schools to start in September.
In one case, which was investigated by Warrington Borough Council, the grandparent’s address was given in a bid to cheat the system.
The applicant had lived at the address that was provided for a short period of time but had failed to inform the local authority that they had since relocated to a new address.
As a result of the investigation, the child’s application was withdrawn and given to the next person on the waiting list and an alternative place was given to the child in question.
