A PADIHAM schoolboy has been praised after hitting 105 runs during a youth cricket match.

To get to three figures is the ambition of any batsman and Liam Simm, 13, got there in style.

He made the knock for Padiham CC under-14s during a cup tie against Cherry Tree CC on Tuesday evening.

Padiham’s club captain, Callum Clarke, said: “This is significant achievement in youth cricket as players usually have to retire at 30.

“However, cup rules state no retiring is needed. The last player to achieve this feat was (Burnley-born current Morecambe CC professional) Vishal Tripathi, well over 10 years ago.”

Liam is a pupil at Norden High School and Sports College in Rishton. His side will take on Read CC in the cup semi-final next Wednesday.
