By Vanessa Cornall, Crime reporter
ON Eastgate in Accrington, East Lancashire’s oldest runner 77-year-old Colin Cooper took over carrying the flame to a loud cheer from the crowds.
Colin, a member of Rishton Prospects, lives in Thornhill Avenue, Rishton was cheered on by his children, Beverley, Trevor, Adrian, and Russell – who travelled all the way from Kent.
Mr Cooper said: “It has been absolutely brilliant. The amount of people who came out to support all the runners was fantastic.
“As we were coming back to be dropped off it was nice to see just how much effort people had made to support the relay across East Lancashire.”
