Gents

THERE was more than a hint of winter for the 73 hardy souls who battled the strong, gusting wind and rain to compete in Saturday's stableford event.

Excellent scoring was the order of the day despite trying conditions. Early starter Nathan Morris was quick out of the blocks with an impressive 43 points. There were valiant attempts to catch him, not least by Paul Kingston, with his fine 42 points, but it was Nathan who emerged as a deserving winner.

Result

1, Nathan Morris 43 pts

2, Paul Kingston 42 pts

3, Matthew Okell 41 pts

Mention must be made of the gross 73 recorded by Jake Lewis in 4th place which was a terrific effort in the conditions.

Fifteen players recorded twos.

Ladies

LAST Tuesday, only nine ladies turned up to play in their weekly tournament, but the weather had a lot to do with it. The winner was Pauline Summons with 30 points and the runner-up was Eileen Davies with 26 points. There were no twos recorded so the kitty rolls over. This Sunday, will be a final Texas Scramble of the year with the first tee time at 11.30am.

Congratulations to club captain Gwyn Scale on winning the 2014 Colin Reynolds Salver; even though Gwyn did not play on the day he held a two point lead over Tony Davey who also did not play with Ken Edwards the only person playing who could have over taken Gwyn; Ken who had to finish second or better to win the salver but did not figure in the top two on the day. The only change in the overall top six placings was that Brian Keen sneaked in to finish sixth. One thing to note is that Gwyn started the season with a handicap of 19 and during the season his handicap has been reduced to 12.
