THERE was a very good turnout for the match at Saundersfoot, this venue at this time of year is always a special one, as members compete for the The Bernie Cup. This cup was donated to Neyland and District Angling Club in memory one of the club’s founder members Bernie Eccles. Bernie loved to fish the Saundersfoot wall. Steve Tate won the Bernie Cup, but he also won the match with the heaviest bag, and picked up the pool money as well, in second place with his bag of fish was hard working charity fishing match organiser Tom O’Brian. Tom and his helpers are organising a charity match at Amroth on Saturday, December 6 in aid of ‘CLAPA’ which stands for Cleft Lip and Palate Association, with a big raffle known as Tom’s raffle.

George Hawkridge better known as ‘The Kit-Kat man’ was third, three juniors Thomas Mason, Mathew Mason and Lorna Bevan fished the match, and stuck it out until the end despite heavy rain, all juniors brought fish back to the scales, but it was Thomas who showed a clean pair of heels to take the win.

Match adjudicators were Bernie Davies, George Hawkridge and Richard Davies. The next match is at Freshwater East on November 23, this is the last club match before the Fur & Feather, which is to be held at Neyland on December 7.
