Johnston 4

St Clears 1

A STUNNING hat-trick by Adam Hawkins set the tone for a comfortable victory for Johnston against St Clears at home.

The visitors were without a number of their first team regulars who were on a stag weekend in Brussels; however, the Tigers did a job and sealed their fourth win of the season.

Hawkins opened the scoring in the 15th minute, the deadly striker latching onto a clever Luke Hayward ball from midfield, and composing himself before slotting past the advancing James Dixon.

Ten minutes later and the Tigers doubled the lead. Right back Chris Phillips made good ground down the right and his square ball inside in the box was lashed home from 12 yards by Ryan Doyle.

On the stroke of half time and the visitors were given a glimmer of hope as Dan Ramsey was in the right place and the right time to pull a goal back for the Saints.

The Tigers added a third goal in the 70th minute; Hayward’s stinging shot was parried by Dixon only for Hawkins to gobble up the rebound.

Three minutes from full time and Hawkins completed an impressive treble, the striker running onto a clever Mills chip and striking low and into the far corner.
