HAVERFORDWEST RFC Ladies player Jasmine Joyce has spoken of her delight after helping the Wales Women's 7s side to success in Dubai.

After finishing third in their group on day one of the Dubai International Invitational tournament, the squad were entered into the Plate competition on day two and hammered invitational side Angels 41-0 in the semi final, before beating Kenya 29-0 in the final.

Former Ysgol Dewi Sant pupil Jasmine, who played a part in every game and notched her first international try during the tournament, admitted to Telegraph Sport she was anxious beforehand.

"The games were played at a really quick pace and it was higher standard than anything I had played before," said the 19-year-old.

"I was really nervous early on but once I started playing and getting to know my teammates better I really enjoyed myself.

"It was a great experience."

Jasmine, who currently studies at Cardiff Metropolitan University, will now turn her attentions to trying to win a place in the Wales Women's Six Nations squad for February and March.

Also present in the Wales squad in Dubai was Whitland RFC's Sioned Harries, who impressed throughout and crossed over for a try in the Plate final.
