Senior Cup – quarter final

Pennar Robins 1

Angle 2

BEN Adams scored a late penalty to earn Angle a surprise win at derby-rivals Pennar Robins, and are delighted to have reached the last four of the prestigious Senior Cup.

The Robins were good value for their 1-0 half time lead. Centre half Gareth Lewis struck through a crowded area much to the delight of his team-mates in the 15th minute.

Phil Thompson, Ben Steele and Jimmy Russell all tested Angle keeper Luke Lawrence as the visitors were constantly on the back foot.

The visitors kept plugging away and were rewarded in the 70th minute, as Lee Brockway found the bottom corner of Stuart James’ net for a timely equaliser.

Both sides pushed hard for a winner, but in the 83rd minute the visitors were awarded a spot-kick, Adams took responsibility and fired his shot from 12 yards past James.

It was a fantastic fight-back by Angle who thoroughly deserved their place in the semis at the expense of the heart-broken Robins.
