Haverfordwest County 1

Goytre 0

A LATE Luke Borelli goal after 80 minutes’ dour exchanges was enough to seal the Bluebirds’ fourth win on the trot.

The Bluebirds played with the wind in the first half and maybe 80 per cent of the half was played in Goytre territory. Kieran Howard was outstanding in midfield and it was his free kick which found the back of the Goytre net halfway through the session, only for the goal to be disallowed for an apparent foul on the keeper. At the other end, Goytre’s experienced midfielder Craig Moses was able to get behind Dale Griffiths and in on goal but Craig Morris was quickly out to narrow the angle.

Ricky Watts had to leave the field in the 10th minute with what appeared to be a wrist injury. He was replaced by Greg Walters.

There was a similar pattern to the second half, with the Bluebirds still running the midfield, but in the wind and hail which persisted for most of the match they found it difficult to get an actual shot on target. Just as it began to look as if the visitors would take a point back with them it was the free-scoring Borelli who pounced once again for his 5th goal in 5 games, after a clever move through the midfield by sub Chris O’Sullivan.

This Friday, February 6, the Bluebirds are at away to Afan Lido, kick-off 7.30pm. They entertain Cardiff Met on the Conygar Bridge Meadow on Saturday, February 14.
