Welsh League, Division One

Aberdare Town 0

Haverfordwest County 5

The Bluebirds went into this game knowing that they had to win by 5 clear goals and they did the business with a superb and positive display giving them a promotion to the Welsh Premier which no-one could begrudge them after such a stunning last effort.

They got off to a flying start by taking a 2-goal lead within 9 minutes. Both of the goals were scored by Luke Borelli, and in both cases he was able to latch on to a ball over the top and beat the keeper in a one-on-one.

The visitors were able to sustain the pressure and added a third in the 24th minute when the two centre backs went up for a corner, Sam Rodon nodded the ball back across goal and skipper Dale Griffiths was there to drive in.

The game was into the second half before there was further score and this time it was the effervescent Borelli, playing a brilliant game, who was provider. In the 60th minute he carved his way down the right flank and crossed for Steffan Williams to convert.

The fifth and final goal had come from Rodon within a further 10 minutes and the Bluebirds then had 20 minutes in which to hold their nerve, but hold it they did and went through to promotion on the Goals Scored rule.
