Hook (242 for 4) drew with Burton (212 for 6)

THERE were runs aplenty as Hook’s Tom Blaxland scored an exceptional 127 not out and another equally talented young player in Toby Hayman led the Burton response with a classy knock of 95 in this Division Two local derby draw.

Burton found it hard going from the outset as Jamie Phelps (56) and Tom Blaxland got them off to a flying start, with Blaxland showing his full array of shots as he batted throughout the innings to finish on a splendid 127 not out that included 13 fours and a six.

Jacob Lay (13) and Harry Morris (21) also chipped in as skipper Morgan Scale (2 for 51) and Luke Hayman (1 for 22) were the pick of the Burton bowling attack.

Hayman then built his boundary-loaded innings before falling just short of a deserved century and there were contributions from Richard Jones (48) and George Williams (20 not out) but it was simply too big a total for Burton to chase down against Blaxland (4 for 55), Brennan Martin (1 for 37) and Bradley Flood (1 for 34).
