Gents

ON a sunny and warm autumn day 86 golfers took part in the “Russell Baynham Shield” 0-14 handicap, and the “Ford Trophy” 15-28 handicap. Once again the course was in excellent condition, and the greens were getting back to normal after their annual coring. There was some excellent scoring in both competitions.

Club Captain Gwyn French carried out the presentation before settling down and watching our small nation taking on the mighty English and defeating them! There were plenty of high spirits in the bar later! Thanks to all the staff for keeping everyone fed and watered during the evening.

Seniors

THE senior section travelled across the Cleddau Bridge to play South Pembs Golf Club in their annual club fixture of the season held last Thursday. Milford Captain Brian Mitchell thanked the South Pembs club for the warm welcome he and thanked the caterers the bar staff and not forgetting the green staff for the excellent condition of the course.

The result was a win for the Milford team by four and a half matches to two and a half matches. The following players represented the Milford Club.

Last Tuesday, the senior section held a stableford competition with 29 players taking part.

Gerald Slate returning to the club house with an excellent 43 points to win the competition by three clear points from Peter Derbyshire.

Results: 1, Gerald Slate 43 points; 2, Peter Derbyshire 40 points; 3, Bryn Gee 39 points.

Twos winner: Gerald Slate x 2; Bryn Gee; Geoff Davies.

As it was a counting competition players who did not play to their handicap received .1 back; Gerald Slate went back down from 15 to 14 with Ivor McKenzie going back up to 12 from 11.

Presentation was carried out by seniors’ Captain Brian Mitchell.

Both finals must n be played by Sunday, October 4. Individual final: Alan Summons will play Ian Fairburn. Pairs final: Chris Oliver and Steve Phillips will play Phil Davies and Maurice Coe.

Ladies

LAST Tuesday, 15 ladies played in the weekly roll up. The winner was Eileen Davies with 34 points and the runner up was Keri Broome with 33 points.

On Sunday, the ladies held the Margorie Harvey/Nantucket Cup competition. The weather was glorious and the ladies enjoyed some good golf in the sunshine. The winner of the Margorie Harvey Cup with an excellent nett 67 was Eileen Jenkins and the runner up was Karen Lewis with a nett 68. Both ladies were thrilled to have their handicaps cut after that impressive round. The lower handicap range saw Margaret Hicks win the Nantucket Cup with a nett 70 and the runner up was Cheryl Eva with a nett 72. Enid de Wolf was the only two winners winning a triple rollover of £23.

Juniors - Moore Cup

THE winner of the 18 hole stableford was Alex Starling with a tremendous 46 points, and a couple of shots off his handicap - well done Alex!

Six hole competition: Sammy Vaughan-Harries picked up third place with a solid 45, and some good golf from Finley Armstrong secured second place with 42, but first place with a magnificent 39 (which the club believe is the lowest 6 hole competition winning score so far) was Lucas Aldred, who will collect his trophy at the Junior presentation to be held at the clubhouse on Sunday, November 1. Lucas also has a handicap reduction of three shots to 51.

Mini Golf: Overseen by Elliot Harding with the assistance of junior captain and vice captain Josh Lewis and Thomas Wood, the mini golf tournament was won by Osian Millichip, with a lot of
