Division 2:
St Ishmaels 0
Solva 1

ONE of only two Division Two games to survive the weather on Saturday came at St Ishmaels - as away side Solva came away with a narrow win in difficult conditions.

The winning goal came just 13 minutes in, when Finn Isles’ swirling 20-yard shot shot deceived home keeper Andrew Pawlett and flew into the top corner.

With the elements behind them, the visitors continued to press in the first half, and went close to a second when Ben Jones’ effort was tipped over the bar by Pawlett.

Tish defender Rhys Davies was also forced into a last ditch clearance with Liam Thomas poised to tap in from close range - while the home side’s most notable effort came via a long range free kick from Andrew Palmer, which was comfortably held by Solva keeper Luke Phillips.

But it was a different story after half time as Marc Devonald’s men pushed for an equaliser - with Palmer, Joel Morgan, and Andrew Howells all going close.

Yet their best chance came just 10 minutes from time, when Solva defender Patrick Smith was adjudged to have fouled Allistair Robertson in the area, and the Green Army were subsequently reduced to 10 men when David Price was red carded for dissent by referee Sean O’Connor.

But Tish forward Morgan saw his spot kick well saved by Phillips - and Clive Thomas’ men held on for the three points.
