The outcome of the Pembroke Dock v Haverfordwest Harrison Allen Bowl match will stand despite controversy surrounding The Town’s line-up, Telegraph Sport understands.

On Wednesday, Danny Potter’s men breezed past The Dock by nine wickets to book a place in the final four.

But it has emerged that representing them on the night was Adeel Khan, who has played for Dafen CC this season in the South Wales Cricket Association League.

Earlier this season, following a meeting of the Pembroke County Cricket Club (PCCC) executive, all cricket clubs in Pembrokeshire were sent an e-mail reaffirming rules on player registration.

In regards to cup competitions, the following was stated:  “Any player, who has played in a league outside of Pembrokeshire, in the current season, will NOT be eligible to play in any cup competition played under the auspices of the Pembroke County Cricket Club, during that season, even if their club registration has been accepted by the County Executive.”

However, it appears no action will be taken, as the above rule does not appear in this season’s official PCCC handbook.

Steve Blowes, Honorary Secretary of the PCCC, told Telegraph Sport: “No rules contained in the handbook have been broken.

“He is registered with the club and has not played outside the county since he registered.”

The decision is now likely to leave many clubs questioning the validity of the registration rules seemingly in place, with many having already contacted Telegraph Sport to say they would be seeking clarification.

Any side found to have fielded an ineligible player in a PCCC cup competition must forfeit the tie and face a fine of no more than £50.
