One of the most exciting cricket initiatives for young boys and girls in sport is about to begin involving cricket clubs from across Pembrokeshire.

All Stars Cricket is a programme being rolled out by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) aimed at providing children aged five to eight with a great first experience of cricket.

Clubs from all round Pembrokeshire have been busy getting ready for All Stars Cricket which begins officially on Sunday, May 14.

All Stars Cricket is based at accredited cricket clubs such as Bosherton and Stackpole, Cresselly, Haverfordwest, Hook, Hundleton, Lawrenny, Llechryd Narberth, Neyland, St Ishmaels, and Saundersfoot with boys and girls all joining for the summer.

"This is a fun and active way to develop your child's skills, and through an eight-week programme they will learn lots of new cricket skills as well as make new friends in a safe and inclusive environment," said Mark Frost, Community and Development Manager for Glamorgan Cricket and Cricket Wales.

"It will be ideal for mums and dads to bring their children along during the summer when other sports like football and rugby take a break.

"Clubs across Wales are embracing All Stars Cricket which will provide young children with all of the fundamental skills they need to play."

All Stars Cricket is also fantastic for parents. For an hour a week all mums and dads will be invited to get involved and play cricket with their children.

For £40 children will get an hour's week coaching per week over and eight to 12-week period from fully trained and vetted organisers delivering game-based basic cricket skills - catching, throwing and hitting moving balls and promoting team work and communication.

On registering for All Stars Cricket each child will get branded kit including a cricket bat, ball, shirt, cap, backpack and water bottle.

Parents can register their child by going to allstarscricket.co.uk.
