The best young swimmers in Pembrokeshire have been kitted out in new team jackets after receiving a generous £850 donation from the Freemasons.

Pembrokeshire County Swimming’s (PCS) National Performance Squad received the gift as a joint donation from the Masonic Province of West Wales and Cleddau Lodge of Freemasons, which meets in Haverfordwest where the squad is based.

The squad consists of 17 of the best young swimmers in Pembrokeshire, with ages ranging from 12-18 years old. They are drawn from the county’s six development clubs - Haverfordwest Seals; Fishguard Flyers; Pembroke & District; Tenby Dolphins; Milford Tigers and Preseli Panthers.

The young athletes represent Pembrokeshire all over the UK and the grant was used to purchase team jackets to keep the squad warm, both on their travels and at the pool side.

James Ross, Haverfordwest Freemason, said: “Charity has always been at the heart of Freemasonry and we are delighted that we can celebrate our 300th anniversary by donating to this outstanding organisation which does so much to help these talented young people.”
