THE Neyland Pirates have been recognised by the Football Association of Wales (FAW) for their great work in the local community.
The 'Pirates' represent the junior section of Neyland FC, have been awarded an FAW Grassroots Impact Award for the West Wales Region and in doing so have been shortlisted for the National Award.
The description/criteria of the award is as follows: "A person, school, FAW Focus College, or accredited club who have enabled a group of players or volunteers to access football in the last 12 months or/and have evidenced a very significant and positive social (engagement or integration of disaffected/socially separated person/s; notable physical or mental health benefits) impact through engagement in football."
One of the coaches and organisers of the Pirates, Jonny Sutton, praised everyone involved, and thanked all kit sponsors for their support, namely Penfro Group; Here To Buy; Gellimor; GD Harries R and M Mark Evans Electrical; Mark-Bossy Edwards Home Services; Hubbards Newsagents; G P Marine Services; and RMD Carpentry.
