Senior Cup Round One:

Merlins Bridge 7-0 Lamphey

SENIOR Cup holders Merlins Bridge ran riot against Lamphey at home to cruise into the second round.

The Wizards led 4-0 at half time, and added three more goals in the second period in this one-sided clash against fellow first division rivals.

Midfielder Luke Hayward struck the opener in the fourth minute, before Laurie Haworth nodded home his younger brother Will’s by-line cross.

In the 44th minute striker Nathan Greene scored the best goal of the tie.

Hayward passed to Laurie Haworth overlapping, his first time cross was met by a powerful far post header by Greene - and then the striker added a fourth a minute later.

Laurie Haworth bagged his second goal of the game in the 55th minute.

Four minutes later and right sided midfielder Joey Goerge was on target with goal number six.

On the 70 minute mark, central midfielder Dai Davies was on target with the seventh and this will be a day that The Stags will quickly want to forget.
