Johnston's Daniel Sutton and Neyland's Andrew Miller topped the run scoring and wicket taking stakes respectively at the end of the Pembroke County Cricket Club 2017 season in Division One.

Sutton played 15 innings, and scored 936 runs at average of 72 - including two half centuries, five centuries, and a best score of 128.

He was 318 runs better off than the second highest scorer, Iwan Izzard of Cressellly, who accumulated 618 runs in the same amount of innings, with three half centuries, one century, and a high score of 119 not out.

Lee Summons, another Johnston player (and skipper) proved his worth to his side's survival as he was third with 532 runs in 16 knocks, with one half and one full century to his name, and a top score of 107.

But the best batting average of the season was comprehensively won by Dan Cherry of Cresselly.

The former Glamorgan man only batted six times, but hit 319 runs and ended up 'not out' four times, with three half centuries and a top score of 84. That gave him an incredible average of 159.50.

Experienced Neyland spinner Andrew 'windy' Miller took the most wickets, claiming 37 victims in his 139.3 overs, with best figures of 6 for 30.

Carew's Tom Davies was just one wicket behind him after getting through 152.1 overs, with a best haul of 6 for 20.

Danny Flynn, of St Ishmaels, was third with 34 wickets in his 150 overs, with 5 for 24 his top spell.

But despite being seventh in the list of wicket takers, it was Carew's Shaun Whitfield who boasted the best bowling average, taking 28 wickets for 293 runs in 84.1 overs, at an average of 10.46.

The statistics were compiled by PCCC Chairman Paul Webb and his wife Janice.
