Division One:

Carew 4-1 West Dragons

CAREW’S impressive early form continued with a thoroughly deserved four-goal demolition of West Dragons at the Recreation Ground.

The Dragons came to The Rooks on Saturday in confident mood after beating Hakin United and dumping Goodwick United out of the Senior Cup.

But the hosts took the lead in the 25th minute, as striker Scott Ferney made no mistake with a low driven right footed strike.

Ten minutes later and The Dragons levelled matters with a brilliant 20 yard left footed screamer by striker Ashley Prior.

But the Rooks regained the lead when James Hinchliffe scored with a tap-in, latching onto a pinpoint cross from Alex Bayley.

Morgan Scourfield added a third, the youngster volleyed home from 20 yards out to give his side a 3-1 cushion at half time.

After the break The Dragons put The Rooks under pressure, but goalkeeper Dan James pulled off some stunning saves to deny the visitors.

Zac Rowell added a fourth goal for The Rooks in the 72nd minute, the teenager scoring with a fine left footed finish to complete the rout.

Carew manager Jeremy Griffiths said: “We played really well and we were clinical in front of goal.”

West Dragons player boss Steven Allen was not happy with the final outcome and confessed to Telegraph Sport afterwards: “No complaints but this was a shocking performance by ourselves.”
