More than £20,000 has been awarded to 17 sports clubs in Pembrokeshire this week, in the latest round of Sport Wales Community Chest grants.

The Community Chest grants focus on increasing participation in community sport and improving standards. They are administered through Sport Pembrokeshire.

The latest grants awarded by the panel are as follows: Fresh Surf Lifesaving Club (£1,500); Rotary Club of Saundersfoot (£1,294); Tenby United RFC (£1,318); Dockers Boxing Club (£1,500); St. Dogmaels Junior Football Club (£1,490); Fishguard & Goodwick Jemima Rowing Club (£1,500); Narberth Junior Netball Club (£1,100); Fishguard Sea Cadets (£1,334); Tenby Over 50’s Walking Football Club (£870); Tenby Sailing Club (£540); The Yard Boxing Club (£1,500); Newgale Surf Lifesaving Club (£1,500); Camrose Sports Association (£395); Newport (Pembs) Golf Club (£1,028); Llangwm Gymnastics Club (£780); Pembroke Ladies Hockey Club (£1,251) and Milford Haven Tennis Club (£1,113).

The grants will go towards coach education courses, volunteer and First Aid training, short-term venue hire for new teams, and additional items of equipment.

The Community Chest panel for Pembrokeshire meets five times a year, and the amount awarded following the last three meetings has amounted to more than £60,800 to 58 clubs.

The next closing date for applications is November 27th and applications will be discussed at a panel meeting on December 13th.
