West Wales Intermediate Cup Round 2:
Hakin United 6
Dafen Welfare 1

IT was a clinical display from The Vikings as they hit six against Dafen Welfare.

But the win may have come at a cost, with top scorer and captain Nicky Woodrow limping off in the second half with a potentially bad groin injury.

He had earlier headed Hakin into the lead when Craig Nicholson and Ben Steele combined, with Woodrow heading in the latter’s cross.

Winger Adam John headed home the second from a Ben Fawcett cross - and with just 15 minutes gone, it was 3-0 as Fawcett hit the post, Woodrow’s follow up was blocked by the keeper, but Ryan Wilson finally smashed in the second rebound.

And before the break it as four, as John teed up Woodrow 15 yards out, and he duly curled a shot into the corner.

Steele handled in his own area just after half time as Dafen grabbed a lifeline with a penalty - but with 20 minutes let John tapped in from close range.
And Kristan Bennett’s men saved their best till last, as John and Wilson teed up Justin Harding to hammer a first time volley back across goal and into the corner with his left foot.

Hakin United: Adrian Devonald, Ben Steele, Brad Barrett, Sion Price, Daniel Armstrong, Ben Fawcett, Adam John, Ryan Wilson, Craig Nicholson, Nicky Woodrow, Justin Harding. Subs: Jack Wilson, Ben Aldred, Jonty Bennett.
