Wales have named their side to take on Scotland in their opening Six Nations encounter on Saturday.

As expected, loosehead prop Rob Evans will start and win his 21st cap - while former Whitland RFC Youth player Scott Williams will start in the centre.

Another former Borderer in scrum half Aled Davies is named on the replacements bench - but there is no place in the 23 for flanker James 'Cubby' Davies.

The only debutant in the side is 22-year-old winger Josh Adams, who has scored 13 tries for Worcester this season - and will form a backline otherwise dominated by Scarlets.

Leigh Halfpenny and Steff Evans complete the back-three alongside Adams with Hadleigh Parkes and Scott Williams partnering in the midfield. Rhys Patchell and Gareth Davies take their regional partnership onto the international stage.

Rob Evans, Ken Owens and Samson Lee pack down together with Cory Hill named alongside captain Alun Wyn Jones in the second-row.

Aaron Shingler and Josh Navidi, who started alongside each other three times in the autumn, start with British Lion Ross Moriarty at No 8.

Elliot Dee, Wyn Jones and Tomas Francis provide the front-row cover on the bench with Ospreys duo Bradley Davies and Justin Tipuric completing the forward contingent.  Aled Davies, Gareth Anscombe and Owen Watkin provide the back-line cover.

Wales have not lost at home to Scotland since the 2002 Six Nations, although last season The Scots ended a run of nine straight defeats against The Dragons by winning 29-13 at Murrayfield.

The clash kicks off at 2.15pm at the Principality Stadium, and the WRU have issued a warning for fans to arrive early with extra security checks again in place. Gates open at 11.15am.
