St Davids RFC has been chosen to host the 2017/18 Pembrokeshire KO Cup final following tonight's Pembroke and District Rugby Union (PDRU) meeting.

The Saints beat off competition from Whitland to be voted as the venue for the competition finale - with Aberystwyth to play the winners of the outstanding semi-final between Pembroke and Pembroke Dock. A date for that game is yet to be confirmed.

Narberth and Haverfordwest RFC also originally applied for the final, but withdrew from the race before the final voting.

The game will take place on Wednesday, May 23rd, with a 7.15pm kick off.

The pitch at Fishguard Road has become infamous in recent seasons for its natural drainage of surface water - with The Saints becoming the first WRU National League club this season to complete their fixture list.

It is the first time ever the club will host the event, and St Davids fixture secretary Jack Dudley told Telegraph Sport: "We are delighted to be chosen and it will be a big night for the club.

"We look forward to welcoming Aberystwyth and whoever they face, whether it be Pembroke or Pembroke Dock.

"And my advice to the players involved is book Thursday off."

The competition this season has been sponsored by Huw Hughes and Associates.
