Cardiff University RFC are set to play Porthcawl in this season's National Bowl final following a WRU hearing last night.

The students beat Pembroke in their semi final 32-12 in Dunvant on March 31st, but following a protest from the Scarlets, were summoned by competition organisers after they confirmed they had investigated the eligibility of players in their line-up in relation to National Bowl rules.

But this morning, the WRU sent Pembroke RFC the following dialogue: "After yesterday’s meeting of the Competitions Management Committee in relation to your side’s semi-final WRU National Bowl tie with Cardiff University RFC, the Committee have decided that Cardiff University will remain in the competition."

The Scarlets responded by requesting full findings of the hearing, which only Cardiff University officials were permitted to attend - and have told the authority they are executing their right to appeal the decision.

Pembroke RFC will be entitled to bring two representatives to the next hearing - and have been told that is likely to take place on Monday or Tuesday.

The WRU have told Telegraph Sport they will not comment until the outcome of the appeal.

The final is scheduled for Sunday, April 29th at the Principality Stadium.

Further details to come.
