Pembrokeshire rugby previews for Saturday May, 19th:

Division One West:

Crymych v Kidwelly

After 10 wins in 11 games, Crymych are up to sixth. Another win tomorrow coupled with an Aberystwyth loss against Llangennech, would see them rise to fifth.

Given where they were mid-season, that would represent a superb recovery.

But Kidwelly will arrive ready to fight for their lives. A win takes them above Penclawdd and guarantees safety. A defeat, coupled with Tenby United winning at Penclawdd, will in all likelihood them down.

Felinfoel v Tenby United

Speaking of Tenby, it is do or die for them at champions Felinfoel.

Any kind of defeat sends them down. A bonus point win, I believe, will see them stay up on tries scored over Penclawdd. A win without a bonus point, and they are sweating on the outcome of The Preseli Men and Kidwelly.

If Tenby finish level on points with the latter then again, they will stay up.

What may give Tenby further hope is Felinfoel have a two legged promotion play off with Maesteg Quins this Tuesday and Friday. With that in mind, they sent a very young side down to Crymych 10 days ago and lost 55-5.

The Seasiders will hope they are resting their big guns again here. But regardless, Chris James' team have to perform.

The bottom four:

Penclawdd - played 22 (finished) and 44 points.

Kidwelly - played 21 and 42 points.

Tenby United - played 21 and 39 points.

Tycroes - played 21 and 19 points (relegated).

Division Three West A:

Tregaron v Pembroke Dock Quins (tonight, Friday May 18th)

Both of these teams try again to finish their league season tonight after the Quins failed to raise a side to go to Mid-Wales last Saturday.

The Quins are eighth and Tregaron ninth, and neither can move from there.

I suspect the priority of the visitors is simply to get up there, field a side, and then get home. Needless to say, it won't be the easiest of Friday night trips.

Pembroke v Milford Haven

Pembroke made several changes to play Haverfordwest last Wednesday, yet still ran out 57-27 winners.

With a Pembrokeshire KO Cup final to think about four days after this, I can't see them playing a full strength side for 80 minutes against Milford either.

Having said that, they will want to avenge their only league defeat of the campaign, which came at The Obs, and will want to collect the Division Three West A trophy, presented to them after this match, on a winning note.

The Mariners will finish second regardless of this result, but I do expect them to be fired up in an effort to spoil the party.

These two have developed a rivalry these past two seasons, which may make for a fesity encounter.
