Kevin John will take on the elite again when he competes at the WUKF World Championships in Dundee on June 15th.
The Milford Haven Karate Club member is part of the Welsh team and will represent his country in both individual and team events.
The prestigious competition is being held over three days and will see top level fighters from all over the globe compete in different age categories.
"It’s a massive challenge for myself - only something that you dream about as a karateka," John told Telegraph Sport.
"I’ve been preparing the best part of a year for this. I've gone back to the basics in training and it has been an emotional rollercoaster - and I can only thank all my training partners in Milford."
John memorably won bronze at the 2017 event in Ireland, and as the sport is mostly self funded, is again grateful to sponsors and donators for allowing him to compete on the World stage - namely Steve Arnold Port Engineering and K and G Sutton.
