Becky on course for Curtis Cup

STAR lady golfer Becky Harries has made the cut for the Curtis Cup squad, the women’s prestigious competition equivalent to the men’s Ryder Cup.

The 23-year-old Haverford-west golfer represented Wales in the Ladies Spanish Open at Alicante Golf Club.

There were competitors from all over Europe and 90 in the field.

The cut was 50; over the three days Becky finished three shots over and finished in sixth, the top British Lady.

She has a busy month ahead starting with Welsh Squad training in Desert Springs between the 14th and 21st.

After that tournament she travels to Spain again to play in The Spanish Ladies Matchplay in Murcia.

She has been selected for The Curtis Cup squad, which will be played against the USA in June at Nairn Golf Club in Scotland.

The squad will train in Scotland on March 27th where eight players will be selected plus reserves.

Her first Order of Merit competition will be The Leverett in Liverpool on March 31st.

Becky is scheduled to play in a number of Order of Merit Competitions throughout the UK plus The Ladies British Open in Belfast.

She stated at the end of last season that her main goal was to secure a place in the Curtis Cup squad.
