MORE than 60 youngsters participated in the Pembrokeshire Schools’ Disability Swimming Gala.
The event was held at Fishguard Leisure Centre, and was organised by Sport Pembrokeshire along with the Federation of Disability Sport Wales.
Chris Davies, assistant swimming development officer and head coach at the Pembrokeshire Puffins swimming club, was also present to spot talented swimmers with the best invited to compete at a regional gala in Swansea in April.
Carl Milne, of Stena Line, which sponsored the event, presented all competitors with medals. Certificates were also presented to, year 10 GCSE physical education pupils from Ysgol Bro Gwaun, for their time-keeping duties. Angela Miles, Sport Pembrokeshire disability sports development officer said it had been an inspiring event.
“I was very impressed by the hard work and dedication put in by the swimmers themselves and by their teachers,” she said.
She also thanked Jayne Richards and staff of Fishguard Leisure Centre for their help.
