Whitland (181 for 9) v Lawrenny (135 for 6) – Match abandoned
“It could have gone either way” was the comment made by one hardy spectator as Whitland built up a total of 181 for 9 against Lawrenny, who moved to 135 for 6 in 28 overs before play was abandoned.
Owain Evans showed his potential for Whitland with a top score of 56 alongside Dave Lee (28), Dave Dearden (35) and Jonathan Thomas (16) as Rob Williams (3 for 46) and Steve Lewis (3 for 40) bowled well, with a wicket apiece for William Morris and Alistair Edwards.
Lewis also topped the Lawrenny batting with 41, assisted by Brad McDermott-Jenkins (17), Simon Cole (27) and James Buckle (36).
For Whitland, there were useful bowling performances from Iestyn Scourfield (2 for 3), David Dunfee (2 for 21), Jonathan Thomas (1 for 39) and Mark Lee (1 for 24) before play was eventually called to a halt.
