CENTRE Charlotte Wood ran in five tries as Haverfordwest Ladies secured a convincing win over Gorseinon in the WRU division two.

The Blues found themselves on the wrong side of a 50-0 score line the last time the two sides met, so their 65-0 away victory on Sunday showed just how much the team has progressed under coaches Gareth Charles and Ben John.

Wood was named man of the match after her speed tore the Gorseinon defence apart on five occasions, while captain and number 8 Nina Colville kept up her impressive try scoring record, touching down four times.

Flanker Lyn Egelstaff completed the scoring, with fly half Joanna Price converting five of the tries.

There was also an impressive display by the forwards, who were ruthless at the breakdown, with one of Colville's tries coming from a driving line out straight off the training ground.

Coach Gareth Charles said: “It was a much improved performance on the last time we played Gorseinon, where we lost 50-0 before Haverfordwest joined the league.

“Obviously today shows just how much we’ve come on in the last four years to comprehensively beat them 65-0.”

Haverfordwest Ladies are now unbeaten in their first five games of the season and look forward to a tough encounter with Ynysybwl, who are also unbeaten, in two weeks’ time.
