SCOTT Williams is confident that the Wales back line will start to fire now that the World Cup is on the horizon.

Warren Gatland's men host Italy in their final tune-up at the Millennium Stadium today (kick-off 5pm) and the head coach has plumped for an almost full-strength back line.

Centre Jamie Roberts and wing Liam Williams are the only players on the sidelines this weekend who are likely to be in the thick of it against 'group of death' rivals England and Australia.

World Cup-winning coach Graham Henry suggested this week that Wales' talented back line doesn't score as many tries as it should

Gatland admitted his half-backs Rhys Webb and Dan Biggar had looked rusty in the excellent win against Ireland in Dublin last week while the management have also be cranking up the amount of rugby work in training after previously concentrating on conditioning.

And Williams, who is at 12 alongside Cory Allen this evening after being 13 outside Roberts last week, expects more fluidity against an Italy side they scored eight tries against on Six Nations 'Super Saturday'.

"There's a lot more to come from our backs," said the Scarlets man. "I don't think you can read too much into these warm-up games.

"Last weekend was the first game of the season for a lot of the boys and pretty much all of them felt they were a bit rusty, like I was in the first Ireland game.

"It's only going to get better, the more we play together. We just have to keep improving."

Williams will feature prominently at England 2015 thanks to Jonathan Davies' knee injury and his versatility means he could well play 12, his club position, in the tournament opener against Uruguay to ease Roberts' workload.

"There's a bit of difference in defence but in attack, if you take away first phase there are no numbers on your back really," he said.

"Last weekend we just slotted in wherever we were. I'm sure it will be the same this weekend with Cory.

"But outside centre is one of the toughest places to defend, because you have bodies coming down your channel and you have quite a large space to defend.

"You just have to make sure you take the right option and make the right decision in defence. In attack, nothing much changes so I'll try to feed the gas on the outside."
