We're full of confidence – Roberts

WALES travel to Twickenham with a chance of winning the Triple Crown “sky high with confidence”, powerhouse centre Jamie Roberts says.

But the 2009 Lions star admits England will be a tough nut to crack despite their failure to “light up” the Six Nations.

Both Wales and England have won two from two and the game at HQ in a fortnight is a mouth-watering prospect.

Speaking after yesterday’s 27-13 victory over Scotland at the Millennium Stadium, Newport-born Roberts, 25, said he thought Wales would go there full of self belief after also beating Ireland in Dublin last week.

“It’s two from two for us, the fans are getting excited and confidence is sky high, which is a great thing,” he said.

“Before this game we spoke about how important it was that confidence doesn’t become complacency.

“Twickenham in two weeks, going for the Triple Crown, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else as a rugby player.”

And the Cardiff Blues back warned Stuart Lancaster and his men that Wales can get even better.

“We’re still not quite there yet, that’s the frustrating thing, I think,” Roberts, who won his 41st cap yesterday, said.

“Our attack can definitely go up another notch.”

And what does he think of an England side who have ground out hard-earned wins over Scotland in Murrayfield and Italy in Rome?

“England you know haven’t lit up games but they’ve won games,” he said.

“Test match rugby is all about winning. Hats off to them - two matches away from home and they've won two tough rugby games.

“People won’t be jumping for joy about the rugby they are playing but it really doesn’t matter.

“You are in this to win big games and they’ve done that.”

Roberts, who had a fine game against Scotland, said beating England for the Triple Crown in London would be a special achievement and they aim to dominate them on February 25.

“It’s about us going to Twickenham in a fortnight and imposing our game on them and doing things on our terms,” he said.

“Wales v England is the ultimate.

“The chance of going down there and beating the English on their own patch is up there with some of the biggest challenges and the best feeling in the world if we do it.

“We didn’t mange to do it two years ago but now we’ve got a great opportunity to go there and win some silverware.

“To go and win in Dublin last week was a massive scalp for us and to win at Twickenham would be a huge achievement again.”
