Scottish singer Annie Lennox said complacency threatens to slow the fight against Aids.
The former Eurythmics star also urged artists, musicians, filmmakers and women to keep the issue at the forefront while speaking at an international Aids conference in Mexico City.
The Oscar-winning singer-songwriter is participating in the conference this week as an ambassador for Oxfam
While Unaids recently reported the Aids epidemic is stable after peaking in the late 1990s, she said people cannot sit back.
"This dialogue must not go off the table," she said, adding that 1,000 South Africans die of Aids daily and millions remain without access to healthcare.
Lennox has recorded Sing with 23 female singers to raise money for Aids, and is campaigning on behalf of South African woman and children infected with HIV.
