Paris Hilton has admitted she's had a few dodgy experiences with friends in the past - but reckons she's now able to tell who's the real deal.
"It is really hard because you're not really sure if people want to be friends with you for the right reasons or they just want to get in to the media," she said at the Hollywood launch of her new MTV reality show, Paris Hilton's My New BFF.
"So it's hard to figure that out, but I can figure it out now. If you are burned a couple of times in life you definitely learn from your mistakes."
The show sees the heiress choose from 18 potential best friends during a 10-episode series.
"It's really hard - that's why it was a lot of fun to do a show like this to meet people from all around America and outside of Hollywood," said Paris. "It's so different and such an amazing experience. I'm so excited that I get to re-live it and watch it this season."
And for all those cynics out there, Paris says she really did make friends with many of the contestants and the eventual winner of the show.
"I really did make some true friends and even though I got to pick one, I made a lot of friends and we've been hanging out all summer long," she said. "Definitely my BFF that won the show is my BFF forever."
