Cranston still in 'tighty whiteys'

Bryan Cranston joked that filming Breaking Bad is similar to playing the dad on Malcolm In The Middle - because his underwear is the same.

"I'm still in tighty whitey underwear so it's not that different," the Emmy- winner laughed before meeting fans at a special Q and A as part of the Paley Centre For Media's PaleyFest 2010.

"Seven years of Malcolm was fantastic, I had a great time but it was time to move on, let that character go," Bryan explained.

"When I read the script of Breaking Bad I thought, 'This is an amazing journey that this guy can go on, I hope I get the chance to do it,' and I did, I was very lucky."

Bryan plays Walter White, a chemistry teacher who, after being diagnosed with terminal cancer, becomes a crystal meth dealer to try and raise money for the family he'll leave behind.

He said: "I think what this series asks is what would you do if you had a year to live? You'd probably live your life differently but how differently?

"He just didn't want a legacy of poverty and having his wife nurse him and still die at the end, it's just not a way a man wants to go out. In this way he has some control of his own destiny."
