Dinas Cross Age Concern

Dinas Cross Age Concern Summer Outing. A party of members went by coach to Pembroke on Wednesday June 17th. Some stayed in town a larger group went to visit the Carew Cheriton Control Tower. Here we discovered the site's role as a former World War 1 Naval Airship Station, and learned about German air-raids on Pembrokeshire, the role of the Coastal Command Development Unit and the part played in World War II by the Control Tower and surrounding airfield. Many items of historical interest are to be seen, and several members even dressed up in uniforms of that time. The volunteers who provide these tours to groups are to be congratulated for providing such an interesting afternoon. Members finished the day at the Jolly Sailor, Burton. The next afternoon tea meeting will be held on Monday July 27th at Yr Hen Ysgol, Dinas.

The Friends of Treginnis, Farm for City Children

The Friends of Treginnis, Farm for City Children, wish to thank everyone for their support at their recent coffee morning in The City Hall, St Davids, which raised £616.

St Davids Ladies Branch of Royal British Legion

The St Davids branch of the Royal British Legion Women's Section held a coffee morning in the City Hall on Friday May 29th. The sum raised was £292.

Cathedral Women's Fellowship

Cathedral Women's Fellowship At the recent AGM Mrs Sheila Bohlam was elected as the new chairman. Mrs Eileen Griffiths accepted the post of vice-chairman. All other officers and the committee remain unchanged. Dean Jonathan Lean gave a short talk about his life in the ordained ministry, which he has served in Pembrokeshire, from his time as a curate for six years in the parish of Tenby, before taking the parishes of Llanrhian and Llanhywel. He then moved to St Martins in Haverfordwest and later to the position of Canon Residentiary at St Davids Cathedral in 2000. He was appointed the new Dean of the cathedral earlier this year. The next meeting of Fellowship will be the annual outing, this year to the National Botanical Gardens at Carmarthen on Wednesday June 10th.

Kayleigh Harvard in S4C dance competition

Kayleigh Harvard is a 14-year-old pupil of Ysgol Bro Gwaun and living in Dinas Cross. Kayleigh recently entered a S4C dance competition called Dawnstastig where she was successful in getting through 6 knock out rounds.

Save the Children Coffee Morning

A Coffee morning held at The City Hall, St Davids, for Save the Children recently raised nearly £800. The volunteers thank everyone for there support.
