Kayleigh Harvard is a 14-year-old pupil of Ysgol Bro Gwaun and living in Dinas Cross. Kayleigh recently entered a S4C dance competition called Dawnstastig where she was successful in getting through 6 knock out rounds.

The final round saw 12 finalists compete for 8 winning places to travel to Palma, Majorca with the TV shows judges and presenter to compete with the Bro Taf Folk Dancers at the World Folk Festival. During the final Kayleigh had to dance along with the other finalists to create a pop video to singer Elin Fflurs single 'Syrthio' whilst Elin was singing live.

Kayleigh was successful in the final and during the Easter holidays she travelled to Majorca with the winners, TV crew, presenter, judges and the Bro Taf Dancers to compete at the World Folk Festival. The team emerged as winners of the competition and are now World Champions.

The last of the Dawnstastig series will be screened on Wednesday May 20th at 4.25pm and is repeated on Saturday and Monday during S4C's Planed Plant slot. This final programme follows the finalists to Majorca and shows them competing in the competition.

Kayleigh has thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience of the competition and has made many new friends and is very grateful that she has had this fantastic opportunity. All her family and friends are very proud.
