Ludchurch Women's Institute Members met for their first meeting of the New Year at the Manse, Ludchurch, home of vice president Mary Hodgeon, who kindly greeted everyone with a glass of her malt wine.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and items from the county newsletter were discussed. Condolences were expressed to Jill Smith on the sad death of her sister.

It was decided to hold a New Year's celebration meal at the Dragon restaurant, Pentlepoir. Members will be informed.

The meeting then went ahead with a Desert island Discs programme. Members had been requested to bring along recordings of some of their favourite music of which there was a great variety and much enjoyed by those present.

The competitions for the month, my desert island companion, was won by Angela Thomas and Corinna Thomas.

The raffle was won by Joyce Cameron.

The hostesses for the evening were Mary Hodgeon and Eve Cornthwaite.

The next meeting will be held at Blackmoor Farm on February 6th.
