Tour of Pembrokeshire Cycle Ride 2009 Pembrokeshire RAYNET once again assisted in communications for the Tour of Pembrokeshire Cycle Ride on June 7th, with HQ at Folly Farm, Begelly. There were two courses, 115 miles and 64 miles, and cyclists were expected to average 12.5 mph. We had members at five key points, which were also watering stations, reporting back to Bryan Jones and his staff, and also to Commissioner Nigel Lewis of the St John Ambulance Service. We used a repeater in the Preseli Mountains, which enabled us to communicate to areas that might otherwise have been difficult. Information was passed all day with reference to numbers of riders, accidents, messages from course marshals, breakdowns etc.

Manning the repeater in the Preseli's was Peter Hyams, GW40ZU, at Goodwick we had Julie and Roy Cobb MW0COB, at Newgale Beach we had Tim Vlismas, GWoTMV, at Castlemartin we had Richard Snape, MW0XDT and at Pembroke Rugby Club we had Ian Baker MW0IBZ. At the control station, Folly Farm we had Alan Dicker GW3VEN, RAYNET chairman and Ray Richards GW3CR, deputy.
