We are all so saddened by the loss of Ian. A visit to the Lamphey Bakery to see him and buy some of his top class bread and pastries was always on our agenda over the many years that many members of my family and I visited Pembrokeshire.
We always shared plenty of laughs and caught up with local stories. We were sorry to see the ill health he suffered over several years but his commendable passion for highest quality baking never diminished. Rest in Peace dear Ian, we will all miss you very much.

May Mr Ian White Rest In Perfect Peace. My name is Mrs Carol Tallis ( née Greaves ) and I was born in Barton House High Street Pembroke which was lived in by my grandparents Mr & Mrs Horace Thomas . Horace was a tailor . One day in the early 1960's grandfather Horace parked his car in front of the castle for a rest and unfortunately did not engage the handbrake. In went the car and Horace into the mud and of course there was a commotion witnessed by the 10 year old Ian White ! Whenever I with my family went into The Golden Crust Bakery to buy the delicious bread, rolls and doughnuts Ian would retell
the story ! All my family either from Barton House or visiting would make The Golden Crust a highlight of our stays in Pembroke going back to Mr White's grandfather and father then of course Ian . Delicious scrumptious bread and as he would say " when the sign is out I'm about " We will miss Ian so very much and condolences to his family.

So sorry to hear the news. I grew up holidaying in the area and visiting the bakery, and as an adult and mum myself have continued to visit whenever in the area. Ian's doughnuts and tarts were legendary and worth the huge queues. The bakery was truly one of a kind as was Ian and will be missed deeply. The end of an era. My condolences to his family.
