Mr George 'Gwyn' Devonald

Mr George 'Gwyn' Devonald of 1 Abbots Close, Haverfordwest, passed away suddenly at home after a short illness on Sunday February 7th, aged 85. A native of Portfield Gate and Sutton where he spent his youth, the family then moved to Johnston. Upon his marriage to Christine in 1964 and until 2004, he lived in Llangwm, moving to Haverfordwest for his later years. He was a devoted husband to Christine and a much loved father to Susan. As a young man he worked as a farm labourer and cattle lorry driver for Tommy Harries, leaving to join the Royal Army Service Corps as a Regular Solider serving a total of 7 years, where he became a Lance Corporal and personal driver to the Colonel of the Regiment. Upon leaving the Army, he became a Public Service Vehicle Driver, working for Greens, Western Welsh, South Wales Transport and finally up until retirement at 65 years of age, at Edwards Bros of Tiers Cross. Family left to mourn are: Christine (Wife), Susan (Daughter), Billy and Ann, (Brother and Sister in Law), Joan and Mike, (Sister and Partner), Pam and Rowland, (Sister and Brother in Law) and Stuart and Dianne, (Brother and Sister in Law). The funeral service will be held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth. The family would like to thank everyone for their heartfelt wishes, cards, messages and flowers that they have received.
