Mr Walter 'Wally' Barnes Died suddenly at his home surrounded by his family on the 4th July. Wally was the youngest of seven children, raised in Stratton Audley, Oxon. He joined the Royal Navy where he served as an aircraft mechanic. After leaving the Navy he joined the Haverfordwest Fire Brigade until the opening of the Gulf Oil Refinery in 1968, where he was employed until retirement. He enjoyed his sport and was a long time member of the Haverfordwest Golf Club and latterly the Bowls club. Left to mourn Martin and Ann Barnes, his son and daughter in law; Vivienne his long time partner; Thomas Barnes, Alex and Morgan Grandchildren; Russell, Tracey, Julian and Melissa, Step-children. There was a family only gathering at Narbeth Crematorium due to Covid restrictions. Bob Stoke attended as standard bearer representing the Royal Navy. We would like to thank everyone for the many cards and flowers we received and those who showed their respect by lining Cardigan Road. Wally's ashes will be interred at Prendegast Cemetry at a later date. Funeral directors - Roy Folland & Son, Haverfordwest
