“The week before Christmas, when snow seemed to lie thickest, was the moment for carol-singing; and when I think back to those nights it is to crunch of snow and to the lights of the lanterns on it”.

So begins Laurie Lee’s Christmas carol-singing expeditions in his evocation of a Cotswold childhood in 'Cider with Rosie'.

This is just one of the readings you’ll hear if you come to this year’s Christmas at Tregwynt Mansion.

This family home (near to Melin Tregwynt Woollen Mill) will welcome musicians, readers, guests and an audience on Saturday, December 21, at 7.30pm.

Musicians will arrive from various parts of the country to entertain regular and new concert-goers in a seasonal programme of music, readings and carols in the ballroom.

Richard Jenkinson (cello), Benjamin Frith and Heidi Rolfe (pianos) will be joined by Tony Jacobs, Jim Barry and Catherine Sykes (vocals) in an all-star line-up for this sparkling Christmas event.

Readers will be friends and family of Tregwynt Mansion. A ticket price of £20 not only includes the Christmas concert but mulled wine and mince pies.

Tickets are available from Seaways Bookshop, Fishguard (01348 873433) and on 01348 891345 and 07760 223610.
