THE nervous wait is over - after a nine-month hiatus, Yogfest Promotions hopes to deliver another action-packed night of music at The Parrot tomorrow (Thursday).
Crowning glory will go to Brighton acoustic punks Fighting Fiction, supported by Hold the Fight, Ellen Cox, and 20-year-old songwriter Sonni Regan.
Brighton-based quartet Fighting Fiction hit the road in support of their independently released sophomore album The Long and Short of It in September.
With a simple honesty, their songs are more like stories, and anyone who’s heard the album will eager to see it performed live in such an intimate venue.
Taking influence from The Clash and Billy Bragg, their sound is undeniably British, producing heartfelt, passionate, and sometimes overtly political tracks that take on a new energy when performed live.
Hailing from Eastbourne, Hold the Fight are an up-and-coming, trio who make a glorious acoustic/post hardcore noise with tender vocals from front man Laurie Cottingham.
With an irresistible live performance style that often verges on intense, this riotous triumvirate is always fun to watch.
Their current release (With a Breath and a Hope) has been described a “choc-full of catchy tunes and shape-throwing energy, delivered in a refreshingly original fashion” by Rocksound magazine.
Also taking their place on stage will be talented swing and blues player Ellen Cox.
This year Ellen has had radio play on BBC Radio Wales, Radio Cardiff and Radio Bronglais to name a few and has been featured in both Front and Soundscape magazines.
There will also be soulful set from debutant performer Sonni Regan.
Doors open at 8pm on Thursday, September 26, and the first performance starts at 8.15pm.
Entry is £5 or £4 for those with valid student cards.
