A TALENTED local group has joined forces and produced a fantastic new stage version of the 1996 film Brassed Off.

You can see this show performed live at Cardigan’s Theatr Mwldan from November 7-10, featuring a live soundtrack from the award-winning Goodwick Brass Band.

For those unfamiliar with the film, the story follows the troubles faced by a colliery brass band, after the closure of their pit in Grimley, Yorkshire in 1996.

The story takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions as we follow their struggles, from empty cupboards and bailiffs at the door to band leader Danny hiding the fact he has been coughing up blood.

The play deals with the huge increase in suicides that resulted from the end of the coal industry in Britain, and the struggle to retain hope in those difficult circumstances.

The production is an exciting and creative collaboration between Fishguard Musical Society and the award-winning Goodwick Brass Band.

Suitable for all ages.

Tickets for Brassed Off are £10 (£8 concession) and are available now from Theatr Mwldan’s box office on 01239 621200, online at www.mwldan.co.uk or via the Mwldan app

The shows from Wednesday November 7 – Friday, November 9 are on at 7.30pm, with the Saturday, November 10 show at 1pm.
