OPERA Teifi will be presenting its take on the Gilbert and Sullivan classic ‘The Gondoliers’ at Theatr Mwldan from November 28-December 1.

Opera Teifi has been going for the past 28 years and has performed at Theatr Mwldan in Cardigan for as long as the society has been in existence.

After taking a break last year, the group has come back rejuvenated and returned to its roots with a Gilbert and Sullivan show this year.

It is a show many will remember Opera Teifi doing many years ago, and some will themselves have taken part in various productions over the years. Opera Teifi’s musical director is Stephen Pilkington, who is well known in these circles. Hearing his accompaniment on the piano is a joy in itself.

So join Opera Teifi this November as they take us to the canals of Venice….

The story follows the adventures of Marco and Giuseppe - two charming Venetian gondoliers who are informed that due to an error of identity when they were young boys, one of them is the heir to the throne of Barataria.

Matters are complicated by the fact that the heir was betrothed to the daughter of a local duke as an infant and she herself is in love with someone else altogether! Will we find out which of the gondoliers is heir to the throne and will all the romantic complications work themselves out in the end?

Hilarious, satirical and full of sparkling wit, The Gondoliers is as sharp and entertaining today as it ever was. Come and revisit the joys of such classic songs as When a Merry Maiden Marries, Take a Pair of Sparkling Eyes and Dance a Cachucha!

Tickets for The Gondoliers at Mwldan are £12 per adult, £8 per child and £10 per person for groups of 10 or more, with all shows starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are available now from Theatr Mwldan’s box office on 01239 621200, online at www.mwldan.co.uk or via the Mwldan app.
