A JAZZ outfit, combining some of the best musicians of the genre that Bristol has to offer, performs at SpanJazz tomorrow (Thursday) evening.

The Andy Hague Quintet promises a treat of impressive musicianship and togetherness, playing a combination of catchy original compositions with rearranged and lesser-known standards.

The audience at the Plas Hyfryd Hotel can expect some breathtaking solos with Ben Waghorn and Jim Blomfield in the band, not to mention some mean trumpet and flugelhorn from Andy Hague, with Chris Jones and Andy Tween in the outstanding rhythm section.

Andy is a prolific composer and arranger – although his own groups feature him on trumpet, he also plays drums to an equal extent, and has performed with many big names in this capacity.

Over the past 25 years, Andy has become well-known in Bristol both as a perfomer and as organiser of weekly jazz venue, The Be-Bop Club. He has released several cds of his music and has played in many other settings, including tv – Waking the Dead and Cold Lazarus – and the soundtrack of the motion picture A Good Woman, starring Helen Hunt and Scarlett Johannson.

The evening gets underway at 8pm. Tickets are £11/£10/£10 (full/members/concessions) in advance or £12/£11/£11 on the door.
