THE MIDSUMMER concert at St David’s Cathedral this year will feature two Pembrokeshire choirs and will raise funds for an MS support charity.

Haverfordwest Male Voice is one of the oldest choirs in Wales being formed in 1896, almost 125 years ago, and their musical director, Sarah Sharpe, is only their twelfth Musical Director.

They will be joined by Neyland Ladies Choir, who celebrated their 40th anniversary last year.

Neyland Ladies Choir has supported the HOPE MS Centre for almost every year since it was opened 33 years ago, and funds will be raised for the centre by the midsummer concert.

Part of both Choirs is well-known Accompanist Peter Griffiths.

“Besides natural talent, tuition and enthusiasm our choirs form the bedrock of the wealth of musical talent so abundant in Pembrokeshire, said Peter.

Also performing at the concert will be Philip Howells playing the marimba and Sarah Sharpe on the clarinet, with compere Huw George.

The Midsummer Concert at St David’s Cathedral takes place on Friday, June 21, starting at 7pm.

Tickets are available on the door, or can be bought from St Davids Bookshop, St Davids, the West Wales Art Centre, Fishguard, the town clerk of Pembroke, Dales Music Shop, Tenby, and the HOPE Centre, Neyland.
